Official Press Release for 4th Annual Golf for a Cure
CLEVELAND (March 2011)— The fourth annual Marilyn B. Gula Mountains of Hope Foundation “Golf for a Cure” will take place Thursday, June 16 at Shaker Heights Country Club in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Last year’s benefit raised more than $60,000 for the research and treatment of advanced breast cancer in Northeast Ohio.
100 percent of all proceeds will go directly to the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center’s “Miracle Fund,” which shares the mission of focusing on new clinical trials and therapies aimed at treating advanced breast cancer and extending lives.
The Foundation, named in honor of Garfield Heights native Marilyn B. Gula, was established in 2003 and is committed to donating 100 percent of every dollar raised directly to providing grants to highly-regarded researchers across the nation who study advanced stages of breast cancer, with the hope of making inroads to improve the detection, treatment and management of this deadly disease.
“Our Foundation partners with a highly regarded community of scientists who share their research to improve the detection, treatment and management of this deadly disease. We invest every penny of our fundraising efforts to support their life saving studies—100 percent,” said Al Gula, Foundation Chairman and CEO.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For those interested in becoming a sponsor or participating in “Golf for a Cure” please contact Tony Anselmo, Golf for a Cure Chairman, at 216.695.7843 or visit www.MountainsofHopeFoundation.org.
ABOUT THE MARILYN B. GULA MOUNTAINS OF HOPE FOUNDATION
The Marilyn B. Gula Mountains of Hope Foundation is a 501c(3) non-profit organization, established in 2003 by Marilyn Barry Gula, a native of Northeast Ohio, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996. Although controlled by powerful drugs, the cancer continued to recur until the drugs were ineffective and she lost her battle with this insidious disease on July 26, 2006. As a result, the Mountains of Hope Foundation was renamed “The Marilyn B. Gula Mountains of Hope Foundation” to honor her memory and continue the work she began. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, every dollar donated is applied directly to funding highly-regarded researchers across the nation who study advanced stages of breast cancer, with the hope of making inroads to improve the detection, treatment and management of this deadly disease.
